Although the day started out cloudy and breezy, and didn?t break for any sun until midday, there was plenty of activity in the park. Nothing really new except for departures and beginnings.

Just a handful of Scaup, Lesser and Greater, and Ring-necked Ducks. No Goldeneyes at all and but a single Common Merganser were present, and only a few Western Grebe.
A loosely associated flock of 10 Great Blue Heron flew south over the park. A few of them made circles over the wetlands but none appeared to have stayed. Passing through or moving away from a former heronry?
Of raptors, a small Cooper?s Hawk was flying low through the bush at the Entrance Pond and 2 immature Bald Eagles made passes along the shore.
At least 4 Virginia Rail were calling; two of them visible briefly as they walked along the edges of the marsh ponds.
A Killdeer flew over the wetlands, chased by an Anna?s Hummingbird.
Large number (>100) of Mew Gull were congregated on the swim platform, with a few Glaucous-winged, a Herring, two California and a Ring-billed Gull.
A male Barn Owl was perched in the top window of the fire tower building early. Another owl was kleaking from somewhere near the conifer box at Santos Place.
An Anna?s Hummingbird remains on eggs on Promontory Point.
A pair of Bushtit were putting finishing touches on a nest at the Entrance Pond while an American Robin was doing the same on Promontory Point and an American Crow was doing its nest building by the west meadow.
A Golden-crowned Sparrow was eating the flowers of Oregon Grape and Crabapple.
