This morning, while walking my sparrow transects route on the West Rocky Prairie
(Thurston County) mounded prairie for the first time of the season, I was surprised to see
a Vesper Sparrow. (Usually, I don't find them here until late April or early May.) It proved
to be an especially welcome sighting: the only other sparrow found was a White-crowned
Sparrow, and it heard-only. (Though I may have also heard some Savannah Sparrow.)
