Sixty of us (a new record) enjoyed a great day of birding at Nisqually.? Birders included folks from California and Texas.? Low tide was 5' 5" at 9:37am;? High tide was 9' 8" at 2:17pm.

Highlights of the day included first of year Yellow-headed Blackbird.? Nathaneal's eBird report follows my summary?of today's sightings by general location.?

Visitor Center:? Pair of Wood Duck, Bald Eagle, Tree Swallow, Canada and Cackling Goose.
?
Access Road and Pond South of Parking Lot:? Green-winged Teal, Ring-necked Duck, Wood Duck, American Wigeon, Pied-billed Grebe.
?
Access Road and Pond to the West of the parking lot and up to the McAllister Creek gate:? Greater Scaup, Green-winged Teal, Bufflehead, Northern Shoveler, Gadwall, American Coot, Northern Pintail, Violet Green, Barn, Tree and Northern Rough-winged Swallow, Common Yellowthroat.

Westside of Boardwalk Loop:? Common Yellowthroat, Bewick's Wren, Spotted Towhee, Bald Eagle, Red-tailed Hawk, Purple Finch, Savannah Sparrow, Fox Sparrow, Rufous Hummingbird on nest.

Barn Overlook:? Northern Harrier, Cliff Swallow, Eurasian Wigeon, Pied-billed Grebe, Wood Duck, American Coot, Northern Shoveler.

Dike Trail including boardwalk overlook:? Savannah Sparrow, Common Yellowthroat, Hooded Merganser, Ring-necked Duck,?Gadwall, Cinnamon Teal, Green-winged Teal,? Yellow-headed Blackbird, Virginia Rail, Greater Yellowlegs.

McAllister Creek Boardwalk:? Red-breasted Merganser, White-winged Scoter, Common Loon.
?
River Overlook:? Bald Eagle, Great Blue Heron, Rufous Hummingbird.

Riverside (East) of Boardwalk Loop:? Yellow-rumped Warbler, Brown Creeper (two nests observed), Rufous Hummingbird at nest feeding young, Downy Woodpecker, Great Horned Owl ( 1 adult, 3 young), Golden-crowned sparrow.
