Today John Houghton and I headed East for dryer conditions. We birded from
Cle Elum to Vantage. It was nice to see Sage species returning.



Below Wanapum Dam we found at least 4 Sagebrush Sparrows which was a treat.
At Ginkgo Visitor Center overlooking the Columbia the usual Rock Wrens were
around and one was singing up a storm. At Quilomene we found Sage Thrasher,
Brewers Sparrow and one Gray Flycatcher. In Ellensburg following up on ebird
reports of Long-billed Curlews were found three along Lower Green Canyon Rd.
Coming down Reecer Creek Rd up high we found one Ruffed Grouse crossing the
road. In Cle Elum we were surprised to see a second Gray Flycatcher near the
Ranger Station in the Cemetery. We found Yellow-rumps Warbler all day long
but found it interesting to see a few fly catching from Lily pads near the
Teanaway River Bridge.
