Sorry for a very late post on birding eastern Adams County on Wednesday. As
I should have expected, sage-steppe was dormant for activity except for a
few Loggerhead Shrikes west and north of Lind. The one area of interest was
near water at Cow Lake where I had 12 species of shorebirds with minimum
numbers as follows:

Black-necked Stilt 8

American Avocet 2

Killdeer 25

Spotted Sandpiper 2

Greater Yellowlegs 12

Lesser Yellowlegs 2

Least Sandpiper 3

Semipalmated Sandpiper 2

Western Sandpiper 12

Long-billed Dowitcher 20

Wilson's Snipe 2

Wilson's Phalarope 3

Red-necked Phalarope 2

Sprague Lake was loaded with waterfowl at long distance. Early afternoon at
Washtucna hit 104 degrees. Needless to say, heat waves were a factor at
distance most of the day.
