Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday August 28. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

On August 24 an UPLAND SANDPIPER briefly touched down at the Corvallis
Airport then flew on. A NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH was photographed August 23 at a
most unlikely spot just north of the Steel Bridge in downtown Portland. On
August 27 a LEAST FLYCATCHER was in Battleground, WA. During the evening of
August 27 about 1500 VAUX?S SWIFTS were at the chimney of Chapman School in
northwest Portland.

Heavy migrations continue with BAIRD?S SANDPIPERS conspicuous including some
fair sized flocks. On August 23 a flock 19 was at Wickiup Reservoir. About
1000 SURF SCOTERS were off Seaside August 21. On August 24 over 1000
RED-NECKED PHALAROPES were off Boiler Bay. ELEGANT TERNS are now being seen
all along the Oregon and Washington coast

On August 26 two ACORN WOODPECKERS were reported from the Sandy River Delta.
A WESTERN KINGBIRD was at the Portland Airport August 21. On August 25 a
BREWER?S SPARROW was at Ankeny NWR. A GRAY FLYCATCHER was in Eugene August
23. On August 27 a FRANKLIN?S GULL and a SANDERLING were at Fern Ridge
Reservoir.

On August 24 a BOBOLINK was at Hatfield Lake near Bend. The next day a
FRANKLIN?S GULL was there.
