Hello,

My son, Joshua and I enjoyed birding Whitman County today with some late
afternoon time at Sprague Lake in Lincoln and Adams County.

We began the morning at Steptoe Butte where the first unexpected find was a
cow moose. Besides the moose, we found a GRAY CROWNED ROSY FINCH, Downy
Woodpecker, Townsend's Solitaire, Red Crossbill, and flock of Bohemian
Waxwings with one Cedar Waxwing.

Our next stop was along the North Palouse River Rd in Colfax which was
quite birdy (34 species in less than an hour): Northern Shrike, Bohemian
Waxwings (100), Cedar Waxwing, Golden crowned Kinglet, BROWN CREEPER
(county lifer), Mountain Chickadee, LESSER GOLDFINCH (15), Cassin's Finch,
Red Crossbill, and Townsend's Solitaire (6).

Rock Lake: GOLDEN EAGLE, Prairie Falcon, female LONG TAILED DUCK (just west
of the bridge at the boat launch ramp), Northern Shrike

Sprague Lake (Lincoln): American Tree Sparrow

Sprague Lake (Adams): Greater Scaup, American Tree Sparrow.

Blessings
