After reading Rachel Lawson's post about dead Cassin's Auklets around Kalaloch area beaches, I Googled it and found that MANY of these birds have washed up dead this fall from Washington to Mexico. Emaciated due to possibly a combination of warmer ocean temps and lack of food says one article and then another claims deaths are due to an unusually high nesting success on Triangle Island off Vancouver Island. How can there be two answers so completely different? Or are they both correct? Anyone care to weigh in?
