Hi Tweeters,

We were in luck with great birding conditions this morning - not only no rain or wind, but no fog, and even a fleeting look at the sun.? Among 56 total species tallied by the group, and large numbers of birds overall with much singing, highlights included:

- 5 Redheads (scoped just after the trip)
- a male Pileated Woodpecker that flew in just as the trip was over, doing display drumming and calling on telephone poles
- 1 Barn Swallow, probably the same bird seen a couple of days ago, my personal first WA winter record
- all 3 wren species singing, including a cooperative Marsh Wren that gave us scope views
- 1 Orange-crowned Warbler in the Surber grove
- 1 Varied Thrush male, also in the Surber grove, that gave us great looks

Good birding,
