Sunday?morning, Feburary 1, 2014, I noticed a number of small white specks about 1/3 the way across Puget Sound off of Seahurst (part of Burien, WA), so I got out my spotting scope and determined that they were Brant. About 30 to 40 were spread around within 100 years of each other. I was surprised to see Brant so far out in what I think is pretty deep water. They were not quite into the shipping lanes, but pretty close. There must have been some thick kelp beds floating through which caught their interest.

I see that Carol Schulz reported Brant off of Des Moines/Zenith last week. Could be the same ones.
