This morning I spent 2 1/2 hours scoping the gull flock in the fields north of the treatment plant on Goodrich Rd. Some gulls continued within the plant, while others fed in the fields. My best vantage point was from the trail to the north, where a service road intersects. It took some time, but I found the 1st year GLAUCOUS GULL. As for the Iceland Gull, nothing stood out that screamed, ?look at me, I?m an Iceland Gull?. I had a pretty nice assortment of gulls, (WESTERN 2, CALIFORNIA 3, RING-BILLED 2, THAYER?S 1, MEW lots) until a Bald Eagle scarred the flock away further to the north and out of sight.
I also checked for the Black Phoebe at the bridge, but did not see it. It could still be lurking around, since the slough is quite extensive.
