Subject: [Tweeters] Townsend's Warbler waiting for a bus at W Seattle 7-11

This morning, as I started my bike ride through Seattle's first snow of the
year (about an inch or more), in The Junction, "downtown" West Seattle, a
bird flew away from the ground at the bus stop by the 7-11. It didn't have
the nuance of a House Sparrow that I might expect there on the pavement.
So I turned around and spotted a maleTownsend's Warbler foraging on the
ground by the wall of the 7-11, getting within a few feet of it. It wasn't
a bird I expected in that habitat, but it was quite a treat! I had to
wonder if it was having a hard time finding food in its usual habitat high
in a Douglas Fir in a forest, with all of the snow cover, and had tried to
get some at the 7-11, but may have failed to get any service, so was
waiting for a bus, hoping for better luck at Westwood Village shopping
mall. This isn't the same bird, but the one illustrated on the lower left
was the best image I could quickly find to illustrate my story to my
barista at the C&P Coffee: http://ebirdr.com/bird/townsends-warbler
Hopefully the bus driver will be more accomodating than the clerk at the
7-11 may have been.
