We also observed this phenomena at our feeders as well. I noticed that many of the fruit resources were greatly depleted by robin, waxwing, and starling flocks during the December cold snap. I would suppose that the robins are having a rough time of it now. We have also had several Varied Thrush at the feeders or sneaking scratch from the chicken coop while our hens were not looking while a Myrtle Yellow-rumped Warbler has been working the eaves of the house for freeze dried insects.

Makes me thankful for a warm house and a full cupboard/freezer!

There are two AMERICAN ROBINS eating cracked corn from the seed mix that I put out over the ice covered snow here in Skamania County. This is the first time I have seen a Robin eating grain. Wilson Cady
