On our monthly WOS Chase trip our group attempted to relocate the Iceland Gull at Nisqually NWR with no luck. Highlights were a juvenile Northern Shrike, several Brown Creepers creeping low and close to the boardwalk, and wonderful looks at the three Great Horned Owlets at the nest tree with a parent snoozing just outside. Very windy out on the boardwalk today! Brrrrr!

We also attempted to relocate the Rose-breasted Grosbeak that was reported by Hal Michael on eBird. No luck there either. Unfortunately, the sighting gave no more details other than Indian Summer Drive so we slowly drove the road. One home had several feeders that seemed hopeful so we stayed and watched awhile. I don't know if this is the spot where the bird was spotted the first time but it was quite active. Ann Marie Wood submitted an eBird report so if others are interested in trying for the bird the maps there may be helpful.

Cheers,
