Subject: [Tweeters] Emperor Goose Update

I stayed with the Emperor Goose on Knapp Road this evening until well after
sunset. I wanted to see where the birds went once they took off from the
field. They headed east and then cut back to the south and landed in the
irrigation pond that is just to the east of Knapp Road. The pond is not
viewable from Knapp Road. It is viewable from Highway 101, but there is
precious little to none as far as places to pull off. I have looked at
these ponds previously by parking in the gravel areas where Diamond Point
Rd. T's with 101. I then walked along Highway 101 which is a dangerous
proposition in itself.

The Geese where all on the pond when I left the area. That does not mean
they will stay there all night, but they may. I will look in the morning
to see if they are there. My nephew Jonas Gatchet has been looking for this
bird and he was the person who originally spotted it and pointed it out to
my brother Mike as they were driving by on Knapp Road. I have looked for
the Emperor Goose along Knapp Road repeatedly and have not seen recently.
I believe it has returned from some unknow place. Now the question is how
long will it be in this area. I have looked in the fields in Gardiner
every day and the bird has not been there or at the Gardiner Beach Lagoon.
