Barbara.
On the afternoon of Tuesday (2/11) I located the Gyrfalcon in a cottonwood
tree near the end of 103rd St SE (GPS coordinates: 47.903138,-122.074124)
just south of the large wrecking yard. It was nice to finally get a good
look at a species that I've only seen very distantly or very poorly before
that.

Later that afternoon I was also able to relocate the 4 Sandhill Cranes in
Monroe near Fairfield County Park. They were not visible from the park
itself, but were visible from a pullout along Old Snohomish-Monroe Rd just
south of 144st SE (GPS coordinates: 47.86409,-122.033034). It's a nice big
pullout with plenty of room to set up a spotting scope and scan the fields
below. Those fields also held at least 7 Red-Tailed Hawks as well as a few
Harriers and Bald Eagles. About a month ago there were a couple Short-Eared
Owls there as well, hunting at dusk.
