Yesterday, while driving my students to a field location we spotted 2 SCRUB JAYS flying across Highway 203, just North of Duvall where the high way crosses Cherry Valley. The birds flew very near to our windows as we passed by and allowed for positive ID. The pale blue wings and tail, and the ashy gray back were obvious. We noted that the birds stuck close together as they moved around, and wondered if perhaps this was a mated pair.

Sightings of this species have been growing increasingly common over the passed few years around the Greater Seattle area. My students have been seeing several around the Monroe area for the passed for years. I wonder if these are the same birds, or a new pair?
