about 10 years ago, i remember seeing a junco with one leg (its tail
appeared to be intact) at the bellevue botanical gardens foraging in what
looked like a determined (and resourceful) manner... i felt the same,
given it props for making it "this far" (however long that really was), but
feeling it was just a matter of time before ....
