Hi Tweeters,

Sorry about the premature sends.

I started my day (2/25/14) by birding the eastern half of Swalilla Basin
Road in Ferry County. A singing ROCK WREN was one of the few highlights of
a fairly slow 2 hours. In the early afternoon there was a PINE GROSBEAK
just east of the summit of Sherman Pass.

Later in the afternoon I refound the 4 TRUMPETER SWANS first reported on
eBird by Donna Bragg on 2/17. This code 5 species in Ferry County are in a
bit of a tough spot to bird. At this point US 395 has the railroad
immediately between the road and a cliff down to the Columbia River where
the swans are with other waterfowl. I solved this unsafe situation by using
a wide pullout on the west side of the highway 1.4 miles north of the US
395/WA 20 intersection. There is an easy walk to a small ledge above the
road here for a scope view over the highway and railroad down to the birds.
