Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday February 27. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls

On February 26 a probable YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER was seen near North
Plains along Vadis Road south of Hwy 26. The Coos Bay PAINTED BUNTING,
Norway CLAY-COLORED SPARROW, Newport KING EIDER, Coquille BROWN THRASHER,
and the Ankeny NWR YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER continue to be seen.

Migrant VIOLET-GREEN and TREE SWALLOWS are now conspicuous. A conspicuous
movement of SANDHILL CRANES was noted February 24-25 over the Willamette
Valley. The first at Summer Lake WMA was on February 25. The male RUFOUS
HUMMINGBIRD movement along the coast reached Astoria February 21, with the
first females there three days later. The RUFOUS movement in the Willamette
Valley reached Silverton February 24.

On February 22 about 75 GREATER YELLOWLEGS were at Brownsmead. A GOLDEN
EAGLE was near Clatskanie February 19. Another was over the Pittock Mansion
in Portland?s West Hills February 26. The wintering flock of 7300 SNOW GEESE
were still on Sauvie Island February 24. There is now a pure white leucistic
swallow coming to a feeder in Aurora. On February 24 a group of 21
SHORT-EARED OWLS was near Tangent. 117 BALD EAGLES were at the nearby roost
that evening. A GOLDEN EAGLE was at Finley NWR February 24. On February 20 a
hybrid EURASIAN/GRREN-WINGED TEAL was on Stewart Pond in Eugene.

On February 19 three BLACK-CAPPED CHICKADEES were at Warm Springs. The first
migrant SNOW GEESE reach Malheur NWR February 20.
