Tweeters - after hours -

I watched as long as could see her - sitting on the nest going into the night. Like a little Donna Quixote - her bill was snapping (taking in the last bit of moisture of the day?) like a little sword. She is well camouflaged in the pine - her bill looking much like one of the 4" needles, her nest covered in lichens.

When I go upstairs tonite (limping up in my boot - nearly crutch free, now), I'll think of her up in the tree - tucked in her nest, guarding her eggs, just beyond my window. She'll be the first thing I think of in the morning. I think she's a good omen for us. Certainly a wonderful gift. Sleep tight little bird.
