Covered the s.w. Arlington area today, north of 172nd and east of I-5, the area known as Area 3 (Island Crossing East) on our Everett-Marysville CBC. Highlights of 55 species included a calling SWAMP SPARROW (winter adult) in the s.w. corner of the Portage Creek WMA. Also of interest, an eastern type female PURPLE FINCH was feeding on red berries at the east entrance. This bird had a pure white supercilium (behind the eye) and same for malar and underparts, the streaking was somewhat more distinct than typical for our west coast birds. A N. SHRIKE was here as well, and nearby 15 W. MEADOWLARKS were near Island Crossing. Notably, none of these were found in the territory on the CBC.
