With the tide gate shut for the winter and below average late autumn/early winter rainfall, the Edmonds marsh is pretty much a dry mud flat with no shore birds present but the killdeer.? Even the resident great blue herons have been absent for the past week or two.


Wesley, the resident male Anna's hummer, and his buddies have risen to the challenge of taking up the slack in the avian action.? On sunny days as many as four (maybe five) of them have been chasing each around the #1 (farthest west) viewing platform.?? They are perching on the barbed wire fence and blackberry brambles very close to the viewing platform.?? This provides excellent/easy viewing/photo ops for Tweetsters who do not own high powered binocular$,?$potting $cope$ or long range telephoto len$e$. ??
