Just catching up on the past few days of 2014 birding. Yesterday, I came across a Band-tailed Pigeon at Jamestown, four Barn Swallows feeding along Three Crabs Rd. (there are no records of the species in over three decades of Sequim/Dungeness X-mas Bird Counts!), and a very strange race of Song Sparrow along Schmuck Rd.

On the 1st, at Neah Bay, there was a single Yellow-billed Loon near the Jetty and the 2 Swamp Sparrows at the Transfer Station squeaked immediately to the road and their white throats and upper breasts were fair sparkling on a brief, rare moment of sunshine.

Have a great birding year,
Bruce Paige, Sequim
