This is the year end report of turkey vulture sightings in Washington and Oregon for October, November and December 2013.
October
01 ? 31 steamed their way south over Battle Ground; 40 in a kettle over Beaverton, Oregon; ?a large group? over North Seattle; 350 made the overwater flight from Lopez toward Whidbey Island in 45 minutes
02 ? ?many? flying over the Bush School; 11 over the Green Ridge, Oregon, hawkwatch; 200-400 seen from the 30th floor of a building overlooking Elliott Bay; 39 over Des Moines; 34 soaring low over Woodland Park Zoo
03 ? from OBOL ?migrant turkey vulture kettles were reported during the week from Beaverton and Eugene; 11 flying south low over Burien; 1 circling just south of Smokey Point; 10 coming across Scatter Creek Valley in a group with 100+ Vaux's swifts and violet-green swallows; 58 circling over Newberry Hill in Silverdale
04 ? 2 flying south toward Kingston with a brown pelican; 38 in two kettles over Mayfield Lake area; 19 riding the Prune Hill ridge in Camas; two kettles (1 w/16 birds, 1 w/20 birds, w/5 catching up) heading south over Clackamas, Oregon
05 ? 300 winging their way south in several boiling kettles along the Columbia River; 14 over eastern Lake Washington
06 ? 7 over Canyon Park in Bothell; 2 at DeBay's Slough; 20 at the Green Ridge hawkwatch (plus 406 other raptors); 1 at Yost Park in Edmonds
09 ? 25 were high over Lakewood; 25 flew SSW between Issaquah HS and Tiger Mountain
10 ? 12 in a tree at Winthrop with 36 in several trees the next day; from OBOL, ?late turkey vulture kettles reported from Sauvie Island and Clackamas, Oregon; 9 over Camas
26 ? 1 over Thomle Road, Stanwood
29 ? 1 over SE Portland
November
01 ? 1 soaring over Dawson Creek Park in Hillsboro, Oregon
19 ? 1 south of Three Crabs in Sequim; 1 on a seal or sea lion carcass north of Cape Kiwanda, Oregon
20 ? 3 in Eugene, Oregon
30 ? 1 over Seattle
December
06 ? 1 near Coquille, Oregon
07 ? 2 near Coquille; 1 at Delta Ponds in Eugene
10 ? 1 flying over Arboretum Road in Corvallis, Oregon
26 ? 1 in a fir snag west of Roseburg, Oregon
