Since we have had none in Edmonds this winter, I had to go far afield to see one. I arrived at McCormick Park in Duvall in a downpour this morning. With a large umbrella, I positioned myself on the trail and waited about an hour before the White-throated Sparrow put in a brief appearance in the blackberry brambles on the west side of the trail. It perched long enough to identify all necessary field marks and then it dropped back out of sight without going to the feeding station. The homeowners are aware that birders are looking to see this sparrow. They were quite pleasant and put down more seed when they realized I was waiting for this bird.
