Subject: [Tweeters] Merlin Fledglings Abounding Between NE Seattle and

Here are photos showing young Merlins and neighborhood watchers on the 4th of July, midday, at the "Spike & Thor" site for this year. More fledglings are taking to the air at other Merlin sites in the area, too. Residents in the various neighborhoods are citing similar observations to those of Richard Rowlett in Eastgate (Tweeters post 7/4/14) and some different behaviors have been noted. But many more people than ever before are using Merlin calls as their alarm clocks and enjoying some crow abatement the past few months, as well as enjoying seeing and learning about these speedy birds of prey.
You've still a chance to catch some of the fledging action yourself in the public areas of at least the north end of King Co and the south part of Snohomish Co. If you would like a location or 2, write me and I'll try to help you find some Merlins to enjoy, in or near Seattle.

Here's a link to Dory Hamlyn's and my photos of the Merlin scene yesterday in a NE Seattle neighborhood:

The season is almost over... (some :-( and some :-))
