Saturday around 10 am I encountered an adult Barred Owl in a large stand of mostly cottonwoods. I sat about 15 yards away from it for about 45 mins. Toward the end it stretched, yawned and began panting, presumably from the heat (definitely wasn't a warning/alarm/hissing action).
Has anyone else seen one there recently? I see in Connie's online list that one was seen on Sept 2012.
