Hi Tweeters,

An update from my Battle Ground, Clark County yard:

- A Pileated Woodpecker flew over this morning - the first one since March
20
- The (a) singing Red-eyed Vireo. Presumably, this is the same bird that
wanders around the neighborhood singing?
- Two Wilson's Warblers in the bushes in the yard. I don't think they nest
within earshot of the house.
- One Black-throated Gray Warbler on those same bushes. I think this was a
local nesting bird since I heard BTGys several times in late June-early
July.
- One Pacific-slope Flycatcher in those same bushes. I don't think they
nest within earshot of the house.
- Flyover Red Crossbills continue for the third time this week - all flying
north at different times during the day.

Has anyone noticed a sharp decline in the number of Black-headed Grosbeaks
at their feeders in the last 48 hours? Mine have gone from about ten down
to about three. At least the sunflower seed feeder lasts more than 1.5
days before refilling now!

I found a dead Black-throated Gray Warbler that's in good condition during
my neighborhood walk. Any idea who may want it?

Keep your eyes and ears skyward.

Jim
