It may be wise to remember that Chukar, Gray Partridge and Ring-necked Pheasant are all non-native birds that were introduced for/by hunters.
Wild Turkey and Northern Bobwhite are Eastern and Southern birds that were likewise introduced into the Northwest for/by hunters.
The origin of California Quail in the Northwest may be a bit murky, too.
When WDFW reintroduces Mountain Quail into the Blue Mountains, we rush to immediately add them to our county lists.

Whether one counts them or not is an individual decision.
