I've often benefited myself from trip reports posted to OBOL and Tweeters. So, here is my latest report from a trip to NE Poland from a week or so ago. The main draw in NE Poland is the Bialowieza forest and national park. It is the largest chunk of primeval bottomland forest left in Europe and has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. While the birding is excellent throughout, the area is also visited for its large mammals such as the European Bison. The second place I visited is the Biebrza marshes, Poland's largest national park.
Poland is cheap and easy to get to. It has the look and feel of a western European country with a solid infrastructure and all the expected amenities.
