Tweeters and OBOLers,

I had a heartbreaking "ringside view" today of the death throes of a male
Rufous Hummingbird. He showed up on the nectar feeder around 12:15,
struggling to swallow. Many more hummingbirds tried to scare him away, but
his eyes were closed. I watched for a while and realized he was near death,
so I set a padded bucket just under the feeder. After an hour of struggling
to stay on the perch, he finally fell. On my flickr photostream is a to a
mercifully short video as he fell into the bucket: https://flic.kr/p/nX8oYs

Hopefully I can locate an interested party with a permit to collect him.
