Subject: [Tweeters] Swifts coming into the Monroe chimney and a Mexican

I spent twenty minutes this morning watching the Vaux's Swifts coming into the Monroe Wagner roost site before our Clear wireless live streaming internet connection broke down. Probably at least a thousand of them in there now.

Let me know if you have a serious interest in taking part in a Sonoran bird survey and I will hook you up. You need to approach this as something you would be doing for the birds rather than a fun time for you.

The Reserve Monte Mojino (ReMM) in Alamos, Sonora is in need of volunteers with decent knowledge of West Mexican birds and biological survey interest to join them in Alamos for a few days at the end of this month (June 27 - July 2). This is a great opportunity to get into some fantastic and under birded habitat in the foothills of the Sierra Madre on eastern Sonora where you may see upwards of 20 Mexican endemics as well as other neat tropical species such as Laughing Falcon, Crane Hawk, Military Macaw, Lilac-crowned and White-fronted Parrot, White-striped Woodcreeper, Fan-tailed Warbler and many more! El Pedregal Nature Lodge and Retreat Center will be covering your stay in Alamos, and if you need it, they'll even provide transportation to and from Tucson in their van. Also, most of the food and drink is covered by a grant from the Sonoran Joint Venture. Be forewarned that it will be hot and humid and 2 nights will be comfort camping at one of the ReMM ranch houses.

If you can't make it this time, never fear! They are planning two more expeditions. Tentative dates:

July 25 through ~July 29
August 29 through ~Sept 2
