Tweets,

Today 34 of us had a great day at Nisqually. We had pleasant weather and a 10.6 high tide at 10.02. The birds were cooperative also

Highlights included a GREAT HORNED OWL, an OSPREY, and a LAZULI BUNTING.

Needless to say warblers were everywhere with YELLOW WARBLERS dominating with their songs. I also saw WILSON'S WARBLERS and COMMON YELLOWTHROAT. Some of the group saw a BLACK-THROATED GRAY WARBLER, but as usual I missed it. SWAINSON'S THRUSHES were also common and we had several sightings of BULLOCK'S ORIOLE.

Eric spotted the GREAT HORNED OWL adult of the riparian forest trail. How he spots these owls I'll never know because I had a hard time seeing it even when he pointed it out to me. Eventually everyone got good looks.

The OSPREY made a couple of passes at fish in the reclamation area before roosting in a small tree in McAllister Creek. Beautiful bird with the sunlight on it.

The LAZULI BUNTING was sighted between the new dike and the twin barns. I missed it on the way out but got good looks on the return trip as it sang atop an elderberry bush.

Shep Thorp and his group spotted a BONAPART'S GULL and BLACK TERN off the estuary boardwalk after I had turned back. Check out his ebird report for all the details.

For the day I had 43 species with the OSPREY and LAZULI BUNTING being new for the year. I now have 120 species for the year.

Mammals seen were MUSKRAT and COTTONTAILED RABBIT.

An apology to those of you who might have gotten a spam message about me being in Portugal and need in money. Not true! Hopefully this has been corrected and my password has been changed. Sorry for any inconvenience it may have caused.

Until next week.....
