Hello,

We have had a birdhouse on the front porch of our Seward Park neighborhood
house for years. We thought it was solely ornamental until we observed a
pair of Bewick?s Wrens building a nest inside.

That activity began the week before Mother?s Day. After about a week, we
neither saw nor heard the wrens, and figured the whole process, from nests
to nestlings, must have been a hyper-quick one for these birds.

However, I just saw a Bewick?s emerge from the house at about 10 a.m. It
paused to sing, I assume to alert its mate that it was leaving the nest.

I?m wondering if anyone can explain at what stage the nest likely is, and
further timing of the process.

Thanks,
Glenn Nelson,
