Today, I noticed a black bird sitting on the supporting arm of the large
lawn umbrella that sits in a clearing about 20 feet from my sun porch.
He had a big bright yellow bill and a little tuft on his head, and the
only possibility I could find in my Sibley that matched was a Crested
Myna (which he was big enough to be, too). As you probably know,
however, that is not only an imported bird that was mostly found in BC
(although sometimes wandering down this way) but is now extinct in this
area. The book did concede that escaped pets however might be seen
(although unlikely).

When the bird flew away, it flew into the tall grass and trees around
the clearing. If anyone has another idea what this bird might have
been, please, let me know.
