Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday June 26. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

On June 21 a NORTHERN PARULA was on the North Spit of Coos Bay. A male
ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK was seen June 15 along the Deschutes River south of
Maupin. On June 21 a GREAT-TAILED GRACKLE and a BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHER were
near Hereford south of Baker City. A vocal pair of MOCKINGBIRDS were
northeast of Madras June 25.

The first fall migrant shorebirds were reported during the week. On June 20
three WESTERN SANDPIPERS were on the beach at Newport. Five were at Fern
Ridge Reservoir the next day.

A CATBIRD and a WESTERN KINGBIRD are now being seen along the nature trail
at the Marine Science Center on Yaquina Bay. On June 25 an EASTERN KINGBIRD
was in Gearhart.

Probable nesting BLACK PHOEBES are now being seen at the St. Helens Sewage
Ponds. On June 22 a flock of 17 TUNDRA SWANS was observed flying westward
through the Columbia River Gorge. On June 22 three FORSTER?S TERN nests
were photographed at Fern Ridge Reservoir. A loudly calling LEAST FLYCATCHER
was also at the reservoir that day.

On June 21 a BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHER was near Hereford, south of Baker City.
