Hi Tweets...... Here's my monthly eBird report from LSSP for those who like to know what's being seen/heard there: Lake Sammamish State Park, King, US-WA
Jun 23, 2014 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Protocol: Traveling
2.5 mile(s)
Comments: Sharon Aagaard and Stan Wood birded with 16 other birders at Eastside Audubon's monthly bird walk at Lake Sammamish State Park on June 23, 2014, from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. We enjoyed clear, sunny skies, calm 3-4 mph winds, with temps ranging from 63F to 73F. HIGHLIGHTS: It was a morning of babies of all sorts chasing parents, squaking and chirping. Fun. Don't think we've EVER had this many Bullock's Orioles (at least 8), perching, preening, chattering, singing, and allowing us to enjoy their presence throughout our walk! It was magical. The colorful Red-Breasted Sapsuckers were also visible in good numbers (4). The group enjoyed listening to the many (at least 8) Willow Flycatchers (Fitz Bew!) nesting in the Park. Seeing the female Pileated Woodpecker climbing a limb with at least two other species perched in the same tree was neat. 49species for the day; and 121 species for the year. The next bird walk is JULY 15. No pre-registration, just show up depending on your mood or the weather. Since this is a state park, a Discover Pass is necessary to park ($10 daily, $30 annual). We meet in the large parking lot to the left just inside the main park entrance, now signed as the Costco Parking lot but we meet at the far end towards the lake (not the boat launch entrance).
