Subject: [Tweeters] white geese in Lincoln Park

Since my post on 6/25, I saw the two geese several times, including last evening. This afternoon both of them were gone. There were three note pages tied to a ribbon which in turn was tied to a stick lodged under a log by the nest. There was a written note to the effect that maybe the eggs should be removed one by one slowly because the ?sister goose? was lonely. I found this upsetting, but someone had then written that neither the geese nor their eggs should be touched, and they were fine following their instincts.

Sometimes the male goes off to find water or food, but not for long. I have never seen the female far from the nest. To find neither anywhere in sight was so upsetting, especially in light of that first note. Tonight a little before 10 pm on my return from a class, I went down. Both geese, to my immense relief, were there. I do hope the eggs are ok, but I?m very happy to see both of them looking fine. The female was on the nest, and the male was right by.

I wish I could keep guard over them. That first note was unnerving.
