Tweets, Seven Trumpeter Swans continue at McIntosh Lake near Tenino, south
Thurston County. In windy conditions they hang out in the sheltered west
end or behind a point that juts out from the south about 1/4 mile to the
east. Take SR507 eastward from Tenino, 2-3 miles turn left on Military Rd
where immediately on the left there's parking for the biking/walking trail
that leads a short distance to the lake. (Watch out for bikers!) Fishermen
also use access points from pulloffs along SR507 -- some offer views of the
lake but the trails down the bank can be slippery. Large numbers of wigeon
(1 Eurasian or hybrid), ring-necks, Common Mergansers and Bufflehead
present; also 3-4 L. Scaup and 1 Greater. Good birding!
