Hello,

Today I saw a bluebird just north of Duvall. At the time, I thought it
was probably a female Western Bluebird, but after looking at my pictures, I
now think it was a Mountain Bluebird.

I saw it at the approximate address of 18013 W. Snoqualmie River Rd NE,
Duvall. It was originally on a pole with a power line to it, on the west
side of the road. It flew down into a field and picked up a caterpillar, and
then later it perched on some fence posts beyond the little structure where
the pole was located.

My reasons for thinking it was a Mountain Bluebird are the color (although
that is always tricky with photographs), the white vent and undertail
coverts, and the length of the wings (or, in other words, the long primary
extension). The throat was lighter than the top of the head, too, which is
supposed to indicate Mountain Bluebird.

I would appreciate the opinion of any other birders, either in
confirmation or contradiction.

Thanks very much for any thoughts you might have. Looking on eBird, it
seems like this is an unusual sighting for King County. I know I have never
seen a Mountain Bluebird in King County before.
