Hi Tina and Tweeters,

I wish I could say I had some personal experience with this bird, but I do
have a few more pieces of info that you didn't mention and may not have
seen:

The ABA report doesn't mention this, but a facebook post from a birder
named Russell Munn on the ABA Rare mentions that the bird is a suspected
Northern Pintail x Baikal Teal hybrid:

*"Just an FYI: The idea of pintail x baikal is being put forward which may
very well be warranted given the thick dividing band through the face and
perhaps some structural points. It looks mostly Baikal but not 'classic' to
say the least. Will post photos by tomorrow. Unfortunately thus far the
bird has only been seen near dusk and dawn and at a fair distance.
Hopefully we'll get some better looks tomorrow!"*
