Yesterday I birded Bateman Island/Yakima Delta area for the first time. Nice place! Highlights were an ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER, CLARK'S GREBE, and LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE on Bateman Island. A pair of WOOD DUCKS was on the Yakima River a few miles upstream. Scooteney Reservoir had 28 GREATER-WHITE FRONTED GEESE. Missed the Ross's Goose Greg Falco reported at Sprague but a ("the") FERRUGINOUS HAWK was back on the sprinkler system in the area it has favored the past few years.

Today in Lincoln County arrivals:

Violet-green Swallow - Reardan
Mountain Bluebird - North Telford Road
Western Bluebird - North Telford Road
Spotted Towhee - Sunset Highway (clearly a migrant); North Telford Road, Davenport Cemetery
White-crowned Sparrow- Davenport Cemetery

Also 3 EURASIAN WIGEONS - 1 at Reardan and 2 on Old Kuck's Road, and a PRAIRIE FALCON on Detour Rd. near Crab Creek. Tundra Swans in every flooded field and pond (almost)!

Note: Mill Canyon Road is CLOSED due to extensive flooding. Save the drive if heading out that direction!

Good birding,
Jon Isacoff, Spokane
