Continuing the late March wave of Mountain Bluebirds in western Washington, yesterday, 3/29, Michael Barry discovered and photographed Mountain Bluebirds at Jamestown Beach, over a mile east of the Dungeness River mouth. This morning, 3/30, there are at least three MOBL, two males and one female, actively feeding from stumps and fenceposts just west of the Dungeness River along the shoreline of Dungeness Bay. The birds are visible this morning to the east of Dungeness Landing County Park, the first park on the shoreline of Dungeness Bay west of the river.

Also, Denny Van Horn confirmed yesterday that there are two Harris?s Sparrows coming to his feeder at the corner of Sequim-Dungeness Way and Palmer St in Dungeness. Out of curiosity, he traveled to the other Harris?s Sparrow wintering site about a mile away on 3 Crabs Rd and found the other Harris?s Sparrow still there, making three wintering very close to each other. With the other Clallam Harris?s Sparrow reported in Joyce this winter, this make at least four wintering along the north Olympic coast, an exceptional showing. Denny also has a White-throated Sparrow plus the usual Golden-crowneds and White-crowneds, making his a four Zono backyard. Denny says over 300 people have visited his home to see the Harris?s Sparrow(s) so far this winter, not quite as many as attend a Seahawks game, but close!
