The two sets of power towers in the water at North Bay between Allyn and Victor have been torn down and replaced by a single tower in the middle that is pointed. These two sets of towers have for decades hosted a rare Puget Sound bird colony including two Osprey nests and 7 to 10 Great Blue Heron nests, the herons nesting both on top and on lower rungs of the steel towers with one heron nest appearing to abut one of the Osprey nests. All nest material was removed earlier this spring and red tape and spikes attached to the tops of the towers to get the birds to go elsewhere. In the last 3 days, the towers themselves have been dismantled and removed onto a barge. I observed a single Osprey circling the area today looking around. Since the herons nest much earlier, I wonder what happened there, as I didn't happen to go by earlier than s couple of weeks ago.

In Port Orchard, the Osprey nest occupying a power tower observable northeast of the Bethel-Sedgewick intersection, located in a subdivision, has had its several-year-old Osprey nest removed recently as well.

Lots of Ospreys out there looking for suitable real estate right now.
