I spent about 2 hours at the refuge this afternoon in all sorts of weather. Mainly, rain, wind and sun breaks made for an interesting afternoon. Hundreds of swallows feeding over the ponds with about 20 Vaux Swifts flying just above the swallow swarm. In the large pond by the barns were 3 male and 2 female Blue-winged Teal along with 2 Cinnamon Teal. A good assortment of duck species were also in these ponds. At the pond out on the walking dike before the boardwalk were 1 Lesser Yellowlegs, 1 Greater Yellowlegs, Least and Western Sandpipers and 5 Long-billed Dowitchers.
