1Hello all,

This weekend a group from Tacoma spent 2 days birding from Wenzel Slough Rd. through
Tokeland and back to Bottle Beach. We managed 106 species for the trip despite high wind
and plenty of rain. Overall considering the chance of rain at 70% and 100% for Saturday and
Sunday, we were lucky with only intermittent heavy showers.
Highlights included:

Olive-sided Flycatcher, Brady Loop,
12 Franklin Gulls over Foster Rd. on Brady Loop
At least 150 Savannah Sparrows along Foster rd.
1500 Semi-palmated Plovers, Quinalt casino
2 Knots at Brady's Oysters
12 Ruddy Turnstones, Bradys
Long-billed Curlews, 1 Westhaven s.p, 1 Tokeland
1 Heerman's Gull, adult found by Art Wang, Westhaven
Approximately 250 Common Terns off Westport Groin
1 attendant Parasitic Jaeger with the terns

Shorebird numbers were numerous in several places, the outer beach, Oyehut range, Bills spit had 7 species of
gulls, and the golf course at Ocean Shores was loaded with Dows, Black-bellies, Godwits and Dunlin at hi tide
Saturday evening. Bad weather, hi tide, and no golfers made for quite a show. 19 shorebirds, 9 gulls in all.
