The only bird of note today was a singing Grasshopper Sparrow at the gate at the end of Archer Rd. This road can be accessed going north off 12 just west of the Garfield county line. On the map it looks like the road goes all the way to the Snake River, but it doesn't.
What was interesting today was to see who was back (and singing): Yellow Warblers were singing everywhere lower down, as were House Wrens, and Brown-headed Cowbirds were squeaking. A few Bullock's Orioles are also back.
Several Cassin's Vireos were singing along N Touchet Rd. Higher up, even as high as the Bluewood Ski Area (where the road was blocked by snow), Townsend's Warblers were singing. A few Orange-crowned's were singing in the brushy habitat lower down in the regenerating burns and a single MacGillivray's. Oddly, I only heard Hammond's Flycatchers sing today, no Duskies. I found 2 Wilson's Warblers today, also singing, one at Lewis & Clark SP, the other along N Touchet Rd. Calliope Hummingbirds are also back. No Warbling Vireos (except for a migrant at Lyons Ferry) and no Lazuli Buntings yet. A few Pacific Wrens and Chestnut-backed Chickadees were also higher up along N Touchet Rd.
