Hey tweets, a Yellow-breasted Chat was singing/calling in the alder grove this morning (the grove of trees kittycorner - southwest - from the kiosk). It went on and on unmusically for more than 20 minutes, starting at 7 a.m. I never got a clear look at its front - I think it was deliberately moving all through the grove whenever I moved - but its back was plain olive, no wing bars, and it never quit its calls for long. It finally took itself and its songs south to Sidles Swamp.

Also on view today:
? 2 male Blue-winged Teals in Shovelers Pond
? numerous Cinnamon Teals, seen on various ponds and flying around
? Ring-necked Ducks on Main Pond
? a Spotted Sandpiper and a Least on Main Pond
? a Pileated Woodpecker flying past Main Pond

Here is a twitter poem for you today:

The Spotted Sandpiper pauses
after each step,
twerks his tail up and down,
then moves on,
dancing through life
to rhythms only he can hear.
