Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday May 15. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

On May 11 a CHIMNEY SWIFT was seen during the evening roost flight at Agate
Hall in Eugene. It was seen again the next evening. A BROAD-WINGED HAWK was
seen May 12 near Cape Blanco. On May 11 an EASTERN PHOEBE was along Flores
Creek in Curry County. That day a bright INDIGO BUNTING was at Rhinehart
Bridge near Elgin.

There were many reports of EVENING GROSBEAKS in the lowlands of Western
Oregon as the migration continues.

On May 12 three RED KNOTS were on the North Spit of Coos Bay. A flock of 25
WHITE-FACED IBIS was seen May 14 flying about Yaquina Bay. About 3000
PACIFIC LOONS and 2000 RED-NECKED PHALAROPES were off Lincoln City May 9. A
FRANKLINS GULL was seen May 10 along Fenk Road near Tillamook. On May 12 a
RED KNOT was on Clatsop Beach. The next day a different bird was at the
Mouth of the Necanicum River in Seaside. A HARRIS?S SPARROW was at Seaside
Cove May 12.

On May 9 a BROWN PELICAN was at Bonneville Dam on the Columbia River. A
SWAINSON?S HAWK was over Mt. Tabor in Portland May 14. That day four WHITE
PELICANS were over mid-town Portland. On May 13 a RUDDY TURNSTONE, an
AVOCET, three BLACK-NECKED STILTS, and a couple of WILSON?S PHALAROPES were
at Baskett Slough NWR. Two STILTS were at Ankeny NWR May 11. A RED KNOT was
photographed May 8 at Fern Ridge Reservoir. On May 8 Fords Pond in Roseburg
hosted a EURASIAN WIGEON, at least 10 TRICOLORED BLACKBIRDS, a YELLOW-HEADED
BLACKBIRD, and 18 RED-NECKED PHALAROPES. On May 10 several POORWILLS and a
FLAMMULATED OWL were above Lost Creek Lake in Jackson County.

A BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHER was seen May 11 at Alder Springs southwest of
Sisters. A POORWILL was near Sisters that day. Also on May 1 a SANDERLING
was at Hatfield Lake near Bend. On May 9 a PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVER and two
RUDDY TURNSTONES were at Lower Klamath Lake NWR south of Klamath Falls.
